Roof Treatment Demo Langley BC Canada [VIDEO]

How We Treat & Kill Roof Moss

In this video, you will see the product activating (foaming) when coming into contact with moss, black mold, and other undesirables growing on your roof.  This is oxygen activating and killing the moss and other undesirables.

Each time it rains, it will slowly and gently reactivate (killing the moss), resulting in a gradual rinse/wash of your roof over the next 3-6 months.

If you are planning a gentle, long-term roof maintenance solution, we recommend having your roof treated every 2 years.

We have tested this on our own roof and find this is the safest, gentlest way to wash a roof the natural way.  Although it can take longer to see results, it is the safer, softer alternative to preserving and extending the life of your roof.

Exterior Building Cleaning Services [VIDEOS]

Exterior Building Cleaning Services

If you live in the Vancouver area of BC, Canada, you know how dirty buildings get over time (especially on the North side).  And as we all know you only get one chance to give a good first impression.  Our homes and businesses always tell a story.  What does our business/home say to the public?

Is Your Building Looking Dirty?

Due to the rain and overcast green and black algae as well as moss can rapidly grow out of control on many buildings if you don’t have a schedule for having it cleaned regularly every few years.

Building Types & Exterior Types

There are many types of buildings we clean in lower mainland, British Columbia.  They can include commercial concrete buildings, townhouse/condo complexes, apartment buildings, and residential homes.

There are also many types of building exteriors that we clean in Greater Vancouver, BC.  They can include vinyl, aluminum, and wood siding.  At times even brick, stucco, and concrete exteriors can use a clean.

Local businesses may have glass canopies and awnings that accumulate dirt and spores causing them to become black & filthy over the years if left to the elements.  This can potentially cause customers to find cleaner facilities to do business.

A dirty exterior really becomes evident when the windows need a good clean.  You may find yourself looking more at the dirt on the glass than the view beyond the dirty glass.  When you find this happening, you know it’s time to have your building washed.

Our Cleaning Methods

At Langley Window Cleaning our core service is cleaning windows by squeegee and we also offer the latest in window washing technology.  For this method we utilize a carbon fibre water-fed pole and soft-bristle brush system.

Here is a brief demonstration of our system in action at Lynn Valley library in North Vancouver:

Cleaning commercial windows as well as high condominium windows using this system becomes very safe since we can safely work with our feet on the ground.  Our lightweight poles can safely reach up to 5-stories vertically and they do a great job because we know how to use them to effectively clean windows.

Here is another demonstration of us cleaning 5-story condo windows in Abbotsford:

The added bonus is we can also safely wash vinyl siding up to 50 feet vertically with this system.  The soft brush doesn’t cause any damage to the siding because it gently washes and rinses as we clean.

We have been using this system for many years now and we find our customers prefer their siding to be cleaned by brush.  Check out some customer testimonials here.

Another bonus is when people hire us to clean their gutters, windows, and siding, we can do this all in one shot with the water fed pole and brush system.  This can save you a lot of money when having it all done at the same time rather than hiring multiple companies to come do separate services at different times.

Our goal is to be your one stop shop for cleaning building exteriors.  Whether it’s a commercial or residential application you can feel safe and reassured knowing your building is in good hands by fully insured professionals.

How to Clean French Panes in 5 Steps [VIDEO]

How-to Clean French Pane Windows

In the above video, William demonstrates how to do a construction clean of French pane glass on a residential home.

The secret is to apply very little water to the glass when cleaning.  Using too much water on this style of window will likely cause water to remain in the frame and release later causing runs that leave unsightly residue on the glass.

When wetting your applicator, first dunk it, then wring it out really good so there is very little water left in it. Using a slightly wet applicator is  key to cleaning this style of window.

5 Steps for Cleaning French Panes

Step 1: Wet the panes from bottom to top

Step 2: Carefully blade the panes to remove paint (use a new blade at your own risk)

Step 3: Wet the panes a second time from bottom to top

Step 4: Squeegee the panes dry from top to bottom

Step 5: Detail the edges of the panes with a clean, dry cloth

You can do this yourself if you have the right tools for the job or you can hire us to do it for you.

Hidden Gutter Vacuuming How-To

Stages of Gutter Vacuuming
Stages of Gutter Vacuuming

Stages of Gutter Vacuuming

1. Pull debris toward you with a plastic gutter scoop

2.  Vacuum debris up out of gutter

3. Repeat

Seems pretty easy to clean gutters huh?  Well it is not.  It’s a lot of hard, awkward work since you will have to use a ladder to reach your gutters.

We always recommend hiring a professional who has many years experience with working on ladders.  Ladder work is not for the faint of heart.  You can injure yourself if you were to fall, so please be extremely cautious and take your time if you plan on cleaning your own gutters.

Of course, you can always request a free estimate here if you wish to hire us.  We offer more than just gutter cleaning as you can see on our home page.

We serve many cities of lower mainland, BC including:

  • Vancouver
  • Surrey
  • White Rock
  • Langley
  • Aldergrove
  • Abbotsford

Gutter Cleaning: How to tips and tricks

Gutter Cleaning How-To Tips + Tricks

When cleaning gutters, there are 2 sides to the coin. The inside clean and the outside wash.

Here is a list of basic tools and equipment you will need to get the job done effectively.  After the list of tools are the how-to steps for vacuuming and washing gutters and eaves trough inside + out.

Tools for inside cleaning:

  • Ladder
  • Ladder stabilizer
  • Bucket (with a hook on the handle to hang it from the gutter)
  • A gutter scoop (thin enough to scrape the inside bottom of the gutter)
  • A rag
  • An extension pole
  • A powerful wet/dry vacuum is recommended (6+ HP)
  • 50-75 feet of vacuum hose to reach from the ground to the roof of most homes
  • Roofer’s safety harness
  • Insurance is always recommended when going on roofs (check local laws)

How to clean inside gutters:

*** Make sure you are harnessed when climbing any ladder or accessing roofs. Always comply with safety laws and keep your disability/accident insurance up to date. ***

  1. Set up your ladder so the stabilizers are resting above the gutter on the roof (start near a downspout).
  2. Place your rag and scoop inside bucket and hang it from the gutter.
  3.  Turn on the vacuum and bring the hose up to your work area.
  4. If gutters are full of debris, scoop out the excess into your bucket first (especially large debris that can clog your vacuum hose).
  5. Next vacuum any remaining loose debris(You can usually slide the hose quite far).
  6. If the vacuum misses anything, place a damp rag inside and slide it down the gutter using your pole to push it.  (It will wipe it clean as it slides)
  7. Work from the higher ones to the lower ones, repeat steps 1-6 until you’re done.

Tools for outside washing:

  • 100 feet of garden hose
  • Water tap
  • Liquid mixer sprayer
  • Water fed brush extension pole (30 feet minimum)
  • Industrial cleaning solution (get the strongest liquid cleaning agent you can find at your local hardware store or cleaning supplier)

How to wash the exteriors:

  • Pour industrial cleaning solution into liquid mixer sprayer.
  • Connect liquid mixer sprayer to your garden hose.
  • Connect garden hose to water tap and turn it on.
  • Spray the cleaning solution onto the exterior gutters. (adjust sprayer accordingly)
  • Saturate all exterior areas with cleaning solution.
  • Connect water fed brush extension pole to water hose and tap.
  • Extend pole to reach.
  • Turn on water tap.
  • Scrub and rinse all outside gutters.

The tools and methods used for outside gutter washing can be applied to siding washing as well. Vinyl Siding Washing

Vinyl siding washing can do wonders for beautifying your home.

If you live in lower mainland, British Columbia, then you especially know what I mean. The amount of yearly rainfall here is significant and can cause algae and moss overgrowth on virtually every object.

In order to keep a home looking and feeling good, it is a good idea to have your siding washed every 2-3 years, otherwise it can become pretty green and be on its way back to nature.

Here is an example of a home before being washed in South Langley Aldergrove:

In this picture the right side has been washed for a comparison:
